Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last Thursday, stocker and feeder cattle steady. Buyer attendance was good. CME Feeder cattle closed the session with triple digit gains of as much as $1.90. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was $189.39 on 3/14, down 12 cents from the day prior. Slaughter cows steady to weak. Not enough slaughter bulls for accurate trends. Trade active with very good demand. USDA's weekly Export Sales report had 17,739 MT of beef sales for the week that ended 3/9. That was a 4-wk high, but still 10% below the same week last year. South Korea was the top buyer for the week. South Korea was also the top destination for the 15.9k MT shipped through the week. Accumulated beef exports were 153,557 MT as of 3/9, a 2.3% lead over last year's record pace.
