Front month feeder cattle futures closed $1.12 to $1.70 in the black as the grain feed markets continued lower. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was $165.23 on 6/23, up by 2 cents. NASS data showed that beef stocks in cold storage were a respective monthly record again in May for the 4th consecutive month. The surplus was down 2.5% from April to 519.167m lbs, but is a sharp contrast to near record low stocks during last summer/fall.
