Quality not as attractive as last week as most supplies are cutbacks from Tuesday night Special Carlot feeder cattle sale. Buyer attendance was light. Feeder cattle also gained on Thursday, with $2.35 to $2.45 gains. November rolled off the board at $155.92. The 11/17 CME Feeder Cattle Index was 2 cents weaker to $155.46. Slaughter cows and bulls firm to 8.00 higher. Flood and road closures in Canada are making supplies hard to get delivered. Trade active with good demand.Weekly Export Sales data showed beef booking for the week that ended 11/11 totaled 25,463 MT. That was the most since the week of May 20, led by a new all time record 13,751 MT sold to China. Their prior record booking was 9,205 MT in May. China’s beef commitments for 2021 were at 176,522 MT, or 17.6% of the total. Of the 1.022 MMT total commitments, 805,604 MT have been shipped, which is the most ever through 1/11 and less than 50k MT behind 2020’s full year total.
