Compared to last week, calves were sharply lower in most weights, with the exception of larger heifers that were mostly steady. Good demand throughout most of the sale, but a very long day. Demand dwindled towards the end as buyers filled their loads and the seats emptied, making for some good buys of some nice calves for those that remained. A few yearling steers and open heifers sold on moderate demand as buyers were mostly there for the large offering of full loads and large packages of quality spring calves. Most of the offering came straight from grass, with light to medium flesh, and very attractive. Calves carrying both spring and fall shots took premium prices.
