Compared to last week: Steer calves 5.00 to 10.00 higher, instances to 20.00 higher on 400-450 lbs. Heifer calves under 400 lbs mostly steady, over 400 lbs 10.00-13.00 higher. Yearling feeder steers steady except for 750-800 lbs 3.00 to 5.00 lower, yearling heifers 1.00 to 4.00 higher. Very good demand for spring born calves this week, many large strings, including full loads and multiple load lots of calves were on offer, quality was very high and the market was extremely active as buyers were aggressive bidders. Most of the time the bids on calves rose by whole dollars. The majority of the calf consignments were only spring vaccinated, but buyers did not shy away as there is great interest in buying calves. Good demand for yearlings, in spite of Live Cattle futures contracts losing 4.00 for the week, as with each passing week there are fewer of these yearling cattle to buy and there are plenty of buyers wanting to get these cattle in their yards. Next feeder cattle auction will be next week Sept. 10, 2021
