Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 2.00 to 3.00 lower. Steers with no-implant papers brought 4.00 to 5.00 higher with non-implanted heifers mostly steady. Moderate to good demand for this offering of heavier cattle that have been finished longer. A few lots of cattle were very clean and sleek looking with some tag noticed as well on others. Boxed beef prices were lower today but that didn't stop the cattle complex from gaining more momentum. Packer slaughter levels remain historically low.

Slaughter lambs under 130 lbs traded 20.00 to 30.00 higher, over 130 lbs 8.00 to 12.00 higher. Slaughter ewes steady to 5.00 higher on a lighter test. Demand good to very good on slaughter lambs. Active bidding noticed all throughout the sheep offering. Slaughter ewes moderate to good demand seen. A nice selection of bred ewes that lamb anytime or in March were on offer as well.
