Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 2.00 to 3.00 lower, non-implanted steers and heifers 2.00 to 5.00 higher. Moderate to good demand for this lighter offering of steers and heifers on a snowy winter day. The market was fairly active, 8 full loads of steers, 1 full load of heifers. Lower futures prices since last week had packer buyers on the defensive. Cattle carrying a good amount of tag as it's been very challenging for cattle feeders to keep cattle clean.

Slaughter lambs under 100 lbs 15.00 to 45.00 higher, 120-150 lbs 2.00 to 4.00 higher, 150 lbs and heavier 5.00 lower. Slaughter ewes mostly steady. Very good demand for non-traditional weight slaughter lambs, good demand for traditional weights. Very good demand for the light fleshed feeder lambs offered, the market was very active for those. A lighter offering as a winter storm moves into the region today.
