Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers unevenly steady, Holstein steers 5.00 to 7.00 lower. The market was extremely uneven this week, which resulted in very large price spreads. Demand moderate overall. No Implant cattle were more highly sought after and sold at the high end of the price ranges. There were more new crop, calf fed steers and heifers in the offering this week with many of those steers weighing around 1300 lbs and the heifers around 1200 lbs. The old crop steers saw the best demand as these cattle quality grades and dressing percents are higher than the calf feds. 4 full loads of steers, 7 full loads of heifers with the balance packages and part loads. Estimated dressed cost ranged widely, from 169.00-190.00 with most cattle costing below 180.00. Daily cattle slaughter finally reached above 100,000 again and packers were needing cattle but are very selective in what they buy. Slaughter cows 5.00 to 8.00 higher than Monday's lighter test.

Traditional slaughter lambs lightly tested, 10.00 higher in a narrow comparison. Non-traditional slaughter lambs (under 100 lbs) 5.00 to 10.00 higher. Slaughter ewes 5.00 to 10.00 higher, except Good 3-4 ewes sold with a steady to lower undertone. Feeder lambs 10.00 to 20.00 higher, except the 40 lbs lambs sold steady. Light demand remains for the traditional slaughter lambs, good demand for those light lambs bound for slaughter. Good demand for ewes, as many times they outsold the slaughter lambs. Good demand for feeder lambs as there were several active farmer feeders bidding and pushing the kill buyers to get lambs bought.
