Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers mostly steady, Holstein steers 2.00 to 3.00 lower. A large offering of very attractive, high quality grading steers and heifers, but again packer demand was only moderate. There were also plenty of cattle that could use some more days on feed and these were met by good demand from two way cattle buyers who helped to push the market along. Two way buyers are eager to get these big cattle bought as the cash fed cattle market advances and the Dec Live Cattle contract follows along. 13 full loads of steers, 3 full loads of heifers, balance part loads and packages. Weighing condition ran from average to full, some cattle carrying some tag as well as feedyard pen conditions have remained wet this fall. Estimated dressed cost looks to be 173.00-178.00. Slaughter cows and bulls 2.00 to 4.00 lower compared to Monday's sale which was sharply lower.
Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs 1.00 to 2.00 higher, slaughter ewes not well tested last week for comparison yet a higher undertone prevailed. Feeder lambs not well tested last week, another light test again this week. Moderate to good demand for slaughter lambs, good demand for slaughter ewes, good demand for feeder lambs.
