Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 1.00 to 2.00 higher. Light to moderate demand from packer buyers, good demand from two way buyers. A nice offering of very attractive, high quality grading steers and heifers. Packer buyers weren't keen on pushing the market too, especially on steers over 1500 lbs, but did have to pay more to get cattle bought. Two way buyers were strong competitors, even on 1400 lbs steers, which helped to move the market along. Weighing condition ran a little more towards the full side this week, estimated dressed cost looked to be 167.00-173.00. 9 full load of steers, 6 full loads of heifers in the offering with the balance part loads and small packages. Slaughter cows and bulls steady with Monday's sale.
Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs 1.00 to 2.00 higher. Only comparison of slaughter ewes were the Good ewes which were 5.00 to 10.00 higher. Feeder lambs not well tested this week for comparison. Improved demand for slaughter lambs this week, especially on those lambs under 110 lbs. Good demand for slaughter ewes and feeder lambs.
