Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers sold mostly 5.00 higher, Holstein steers sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher. Moderate demand for fed cattle this week, as rainy weather brought buyers and producers to the barn to evaluate the offering; especially the load lots from reputations producers. The weighing conditions were mostly average, however some cattle that were presented were very clean and fed indoors. The June CME Live Cattle contract showed signs of strength closing .80 higher at 112.35, with Choice boxes also closing higher at 223.53. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to 2.00 higher, with slaughter bulls selling 1.00 to 2.00 higher when compared to last week.

Slaughter Lambs had limited comparable sales, however a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter Ewes sold mostly steady, with Feeder Lambs selling mostly steady on a very light test. Rainy weather brought many buyers and producers to the sale barn to evaluate a very attractive set of slaughter lambs that were very clean despite the current weather conditions. Moderate demand for both slaughter lambs and slaughter ewes, with light demand on feeder lambs. The supply included: 49% Slaughter Cattle (60% Steers, 6% Dairy Steers, 22% Heifers, 11% Cows, and 1% Bulls); 3% Feeder Sheep/Lambs (100% lambs); 44% Slaughter Sheep/Lambs; 4% Slaughter Goats.
