Compared to last week: Slaughter steers and heifers 2.00 to 4.00 lower, Holstein steers mostly steady. Slaughter cows 2.00 to 5.00 higher compared to Monday, bulls firm. Light demand for slaughter steers and heifers this week as the direct cash fed cattle market has traded lower already again by early week. The cattle futures are struggling to find firm footing and packers are determined to buy cattle lower, few packer buyers participating again this week with some buyers inactive. Two way buyers showed more interest but with the futures contracts for the coming months much lower than the cash market they are very wary of buying cattle at these levels. A lighter offering of steers and heifers, majority of cattle were new crop calf feds. Overall the cattle were lighter in weight and not as high quality grading as they are a little green yet. Hides continue to carry tag as the rains still haven't let up yet this month, yet cattle are getting cleaner as they shed their winter hair and lose some of that tag.

Slaughter lambs not well compared, best comparison was on those under 100 lbs, steady to 3.00 higher. Slaughter ewes steady to 3.00 lower, full decline on the fleshy ewes (Good 2-4). Feeder lambs not well compared.
