As filed

Compared to last week: Too few steer and heifer calves offered to make full price comparisons, much lower undertones noted. Yearling feeder steers and heifers 30.00 to 50.00 lower. Light to moderate demand for this limited offering of steer and heifer calves, light to moderate demand for yearlings as well. With the CME Live and Feeder Cattle futures opening limit lower, and staying that way through the session, the feeder cattle market was under immense pressure. Cattle feeders were left reeling after the announcement of a slaughter plant closure in Nebraska and with the board limit lower, now are unsure of what price feeder cattle need to be bought. There were several long strings of yearlings offered, flesh condition moderate to moderate plus, offered in full loads and multiple load lots and the quality was plenty attractive but cattle feeders are worried about the continued drop in the futures market.
