Compared to last week: A light offering of spring born calves this week, too few to make a meaningful price comparison. Much lighter offering of yearling steers and heifers, lower undertones were evident. Receipts were lighter this week as producers are busy in the field trying to finish bean harvest and getting corn harvest started. The quality of calves was very uneven, overall not as attractive as seen in recent weeks. With fewer farmer feeders in attendance the market was not as active as it has been. The market was less active on the yearlings as well as the market has been trending lower and cattle feeders are a little uncertain about the coming months in the fed cattle market. However there was a string of two loads of 900 lbs heifers carrying a moderate plus amount of flesh that sold pretty easily. Slaughter cows and bulls mostly steady.
