Compared to last week: Feeder steers 2.00 to 4.00 lower. Feeder heifers under 600 lbs not well compared, 600-700 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 lower, over 700 lbs steady to 3.00 lower. Demand moderate for this nice offering of feeder cattle. Many long strings of high quality yearling steers and heifers, flesh light to moderate, offered in full loads and multiple load lots. The market was not as active as last week as cattle feeders have much uncertainty before them. The market was most active on the packages of light weight cattle as those cattle simply have more options than those bigger cattle that are only suitable for finishing yards. Live Cattle futures made gains today but cattle feeders are treading very cautiously as the way forward is very murky. Packers are managing to make huge profits as Choice boxed beef reached 307.75 yet dressed beef bids no better than 160.00 on a very limited amount, while cattle feeders face staggering losses again if they can actually get a bid and sell cattle. Slaughter cows not well tested, lower undertone evident, bulls too lightly tested.
