Compared to last week: Feeder cattle too lightly tested in recent week's to allow a meaningful comparison with this week's large run. Good demand for this nice offering of feeder cattle this week. The quality ran deep and the market was active as there were plenty of buyers participating. This was the first large sale in the last three weeks and cattle feeders were ready to buy some cattle, but feeling very uncertain at what price level to buy them at. The CME Live Cattle futures are causing great concern as it began a steep plunge immediately after the 120.00 fat market and continued to slide lower again today. Cattle feeders are struggling greatly to buy cattle that fit where the futures are at as they drop faster than the cash can keep up. Many long strings of steers and heifers, including several consignments offered in loads and multiple load lots, flesh condition ranged from light to moderate plus, some carrying a heavy amount. The market was active but buyers were very cognizant of flesh conditions as cost of gain is even more of a concern on a downward trending market. Slaughter cows 10.00 to 13.00 lower, bulls sold with lower undertones.
