Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers too lightly tested last week to allow meaningful price comparisons, steady to higher undertones prevailed. Good demand for this very large offering of feeder cattle, which featured fall calves and yearlings. A positive day in both the Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle futures contracts helped to infuse a little optimism into the minds of cattle feeders, yet still much concern remains as corn futures climb and the cash fed cattle market remains weak. Many buyers on the seats, order buyers and farmer feeders, as so many cattle were on offer. Many more farmer feeders in town ready to buy cattle which made for a very active market. There were many long strings, offered in full loads and multiple load lots, giving buyers the opportunity to make uniform pens of high quality cattle. Flesh condition was very attractive, as was the quality ovearall, with many cattle in a light to moderate flesh. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher compared to Wednesday's sale, bulls not well tested.
