Compared to last week Feeder Steers 450 to 700 40.00 to 55.00 lower, Feeder Heifers 450 to 650 20.00 to 35.00 lower, 950 to 1000 20.00 lower. Moderate to Good Demand in the Seats and Good Demand on the Internet for Several Strings, Many Load Lots, and Many Part Loads and Packages of Feeder Steers and Feeder Heifers which sold on a Moderate Market at first, transitioning into a bit more Active Market as the sale progressed and the Nearby Futures markets closed only slightly down as opposed to the free fall of the futures market over the last several days. The entire Offering came off grass and carried Light to Moderate Flesh. The presentation was attractive and the weigh-up mostly favorable with a few calves showing some mud and tagg from the moisture over the weekend. Nearly all the Spring Calves were fully vaccinated with both Spring and Fall vaccinations and came straight off the cow. In 16 years of Market Reporting I don't believe I have ever seen a market transition of this magnitude. Everyone from the buyers and sellers to the sale managers hopes this Futures Market will soon find some footing and moderate the swings. The Next Sale is October 29, a Weighup Cow and Bull Special; November 1 is the Annual Stock Cow and Bred Heifer Special; The next Feeder Cattle Sale is November 4, expecting 7,000 head.
