Compared to last week: steer calves 400 to 549 lbs 20.00 to 22.00 lower, 550 to 649 lbs 10.00 to 13.00 lower. Heifer calves 350 to 499 lbs 13.00 to 16.00 lower, 500 to 599 lbs 5.00 to 8.00 lower. A large calf offering today featuring many packages and quite a few loads including several reputation ranches. Moderate to good demand with best demand seen for those reputation outfits, especially those with load lots. Many attractive calves to choose from, all coming off the cow in mostly light to moderate flesh. Like last week, price spreads are due to shot records and hide color. The first winter weather of the season has arrived, rain and snow depending on location, with colder temperatures to follow. This bout of weather, coupled with the boards' bad behavior this past week, has really put a damper on the calf market. A nice crowd of buyers and farmer feeders in the seats today, market activity moderate to active. Two feeder cattle sales next week: first one on Tuesday, October 31, expecting 3500 head, and regular feeder cattle sale on Thursday, November 2, expecting 7500 head.
