Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves steady to 2.00 higher, except 500-600 lbs steers 3.00 to 5.00 higher. Good demand for this large offering of very attractive spring born steer and heifer calves. There were many long strings of high quality, clean, open-haired, light to moderate fleshed calves including several full load lots. The market was active as cattle feeders were more willing to chase the market a little as they are feeling more at ease about the coming months of the fed cattle market. Yesterday's triple digit downturn in the futures contracts was pretty well shrugged off as those losses did not follow through today as gains were posted. Next feeder cattle sale will be Thursday Nov 21, 2019 expecting 6,500-7,000 feeder cattle.
