Tuesday calf special today featuring Red Angus calves, steers and heifers not well compared to last Thursday's regular sale to establish an accurate price trend. Moderate to good demand for steers today with load lots seeing the best demand. Good to very good demand for heifers as many of these were replacement quality heading back to the country to make cows. All the calves were off the cow and most had full preconditioning. Weather has remained mostly mild and warm and the calves have seen very little stress so far, they are open haired and bloomy. A moderate to active market with less order buyers and more producers and bull breeders in the seats today. Futures losses late last week spilling into this week have put the brakes on the calf market with buyers showing much more caution as the future is looking quite uncertain. Next feeder cattle sale is the Thursday, October 26, expecting 7000 head of calves.
