Compared to last week: yearling cattle too lightly tested today for comparison. Best test on steer calves 500 to 599 lbs 20.00 lower with instances up to 40.00 lower on 550 to 599 lbs, 600 to 649 lbs mostly steady, 650 to 699 lbs 6.00 to 8.00 lower. Moderate to good demand for both yearlings and calves today. A light yearling offering with a few cattle still coming off grass in light to moderate flesh and the rest out of yards with flesh ranging from moderate plus to heavy. Yearling quality less attractive overall than last week. A nice offering of spring calves with many loads and packages available including some packages of weaned calves. Flesh varied, but mostly light to moderate plus. A few consignments without full preconditioning which sell at the bottom end of the price spectrum or at a discount as the majority of the calves today had a full shot record. A moderate market with another day of limit losses on the futures complex adding to the uncertainty of the market. Buyers are unsure what price to give for calves as the value changes so rapidly, all the earlier confidence from late summer and fall has gone. Corn harvest is starting to wrap up. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, November 12.
