Compared to last week: best test on steers 800 to 899 lbs and 950 to 1049 lbs unevenly steady. Heifers not well compared. Good to very good demand for a lighter offering this week. A couple backgrounded strings on offer as well as loads and packages of home raised cattle, many of these were packages of fall calves. Less flesh overall than seen last week, most cattle today in light to moderate plus flesh. Quality varied, from plain to attractive. An active market especially on light, backgrounding type calves. Very hot and windy conditions the past few days have really dried the country out. Rain is forecasted for the next few days and is much needed, especially for pastures and hayfields. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, May 21.
