Compared to last week: best test on steers 850 to 899 and 1000 to 1049 lbs mostly steady, 900 to 999 lbs unevenly steady. Best test on heifers 700 to 849 lbs mostly steady. Good to very good demand for cattle today depending on flesh condition. The majority of today's offering was loads and strings of backgrounded cattle and a few consignments of replacement quality heifers. Flesh condition varied, with a few consignments in heavy flesh, most cattle in moderate to moderate plus flesh. Quality varied more than last week, from plain to attractive. An active market with both buyers and farmer feeders in the seats and a few producers interested in replacements. Many opportunities to buy multiple loads of cattle again this week which buyers took advantage of. Fat cattle prices have exceeded expectations and feeders are anxious to fill empty pens and take advantage of this market. Quite a bit of the area saw rain on this week, grass is growing rapidly and corn planting is underway. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, May 7.
