Compared to last week: best test on steers 700 to 749 lbs 7.00 to 12.00 higher, 750 to 799 lbs and 900 to 999 lbs mostly steady, other weight classes not well compared. Best test on heifers 650 to 699 lbs mostly steady, 750 to 799 lbs 4.00 to 5.00 higher, other weight classes not well compared. Very good demand for cattle today. The abrupt change in weather from sub zero last week to balmy 50's this week brought a large number of cattle to town including strings and multiple loads of both backgrounded and home raised cattle as well as many packages. Many big, finishing type cattle on offer today and less greener, backgrounding type cattle with flesh condition ranging from moderate to heavy. Mostly attractive quality throughout the day. Warm weather has caused pen conditions to get sloppy and the cattle were much harder to keep clean this week. An active market with much of the optimism seen earlier in the year. Mild weather expected to continue into next week. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, March 5.
