Compared to last week: steers 500 to 599 lbs steady to 5.00 higher, 600 to 649 lbs steady, 650 to 749 lbs 3.00 to 4.00 higher, 750 to 799 lbs 5.00 to 9.00 higher, 800 to 849 lbs steady to 2.00 higher. Heifers 500 to 599 lbs steady, 600 to 699 lbs 11.00 to 15.00 higher with instances up to 20.00 higher on 600 to 649 lbs,. A very large offering of feeder cattle today with many packages, loads, and a few multiple loads featured. Lots of variety today, from light grass and backgrounding types to bigger, finishing types. Most of these cattle were home raised but a few backgrounded loads offered as well. Very good demand seen for all weight classes. Flesh varied quite a bit as all cattle were long time weaned and fed differently. Cattle with flesh saw little to no discrimination as most of the cattle offered today were quite attractive in quality. A very active market as buyers and farmer feeders compete to get cattle bought. This area remains free of snow this winter and although has had some cold temperatures, these have not been very lengthy stretches of sub zero weather making feeding conditions pretty decent. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, January 22.
