Compared to last week: steers 700 to 850 lbs and 901 to 950 lbs mostly steady with instances up to 5.00 lower on 800 to 850 lbs and 901 to 950 lbs, 851 to 900 lbs 7.00 to 10.00 lower. Best test on heifers 700 to 850 lbs unevenly steady. Good to very good demand for today's large offering of packages and loads and a handful of strings of both home raised and backgrounded cattle with best demand seen for light fleshed cattle which will fit grass programs. Quality varied more than last week, from plain to attractive. Similar flesh to last week, from light to some heavy flesh at times. Cattle showed some tag today as widespread moisture this past weekend has made lots and yards muddy. More rain forecasted for the weekend. Temps remain cool for this time of year. These cool, wet conditions have made calving conditions miserable, especially farther north where there were large amounts of snowfall. However, most producers are simply thankful to be receiving moisture. An active market with a large crowd of buyers and some farmer feeders again this week. Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, May 4.
