Compared to last week: best test on steers 1000 to 1050 lbs 4.00 to 6.00 higher, 1051 to 1100 lbs steady to 1.00 higher. Best test on heifers 800 to 850 lbs 3.00 to 5.00 higher, higher undertones noted on other weight classes of heifers. Good to very good demand for today's offering which sold on an active market. More packages offered today than last week, some of these were fall calves and also some lighter, greener yearling cattle, many of the packages were home raised. Many loads and strings of heavier, back grounded cattle available to choose from as well. Mostly attractive quality again today. Slightly less flesh on the bigger cattle than last week, packages varied but many light to moderate fleshed cattle in these. Crop and grass conditions are excellent right now with much of the area seeing a very nice rain at the end of last week. Hay season is in full swing. CME Live and Feeder Cattle Futures saw some nice gains today with June and August live cattle closing at 109 and 105.38 and August and September feeders closing at 135.83 and 136.35. No sales next week at Hub City due to the 4th of July holiday, the next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, July 10. Have a safe and happy 4th!
