Compared to last week: best test on steers 600 to 699 lbs mostly steady, other classes of steers and heifers not well compared. Very good demand for backgrounding or grass type cattle today, good to very good demand for finishing type cattle depending on flesh condition, very good demand for replacement heifers. A large offering of loads and packages of both home raised and backgrounded cattle. Overall quality more attractive than last week with many attractive cattle on offer, but carrying more flesh overall, flesh condition ranged from light to heavy. An active market despite large losses on the futures complex today. Mostly order buyers in the seats, even for replacement heifers. Next feeder cattle sale is Friday, March 6.
