Compared to last week: different weight classes of yearling steers than last week, lower undertones noted. Yearling heifers not well compared. Best on steer calves 450 to 549 lbs 30.00 to 39.00 lower. Best test on heifers calves 500 to 549 lbs 30.00 to 37.00 lower. Good demand for yearling cattle. One family had most of the yearlings including a string of spayed heifers and a string of steers, all still coming off grass. Buyers were eager to buy these yearling cattle as supplies are getting quite tight, but they are not confidant enough to buy all loads of a cut as they would have earlier this fall, most times buying a couple loads at a time. Moderate to good demand for calves today. A good sized offering with many packages and quite a few load lots, all coming off the cow. Most calves in light to moderate flesh and had at least one solid round of shots, usually given in the fall. A moderate to active market today with both buyers and a few farmer feeders in the seats. Even though the futures complex finally showed a positive day, there is still too much uncertainty in the market to get buyers and feeders back to the bullish state of buying they had exhibited most of the fall. They are especially reserved on calves as no one is quite sure what they should be worth. Much colder weather expected for this weekend with the possibility of snow. Next feeder cattle sale is Friday, November 14.
