No sale last week due to Thanksgiving, compared to two weeks ago: steer calves 400 to 650 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 higher, yearling steers not well compared. Heifer calves 400 to 450 lbs 10.00 to 12.00 higher, 451 to 500 lbs and 551 to 600 lbs 4.00 higher with an instance up to 10.00 higher on 551 to 600 lbs, 501 to 550 lbs mostly steady, yearling heifers not well compared. Good to very good demand for yearlings today. A couple of strings of heifers, a few loads of steers, and a few packages of tested opens made up the yearling offering. Flesh mostly moderate to moderate plus, some heavy flesh at times. Many packages and quite a few loads made up the calf offering which was met with moderate to good demand. Quality varied more than two weeks ago, from plain to attractive. Many calves in light flesh as the they have been on the cow through some tough, cold weather. A few weaned packages offered, weaned from 35 to 60 days. Calves without at least one good round of fall shots and some colored calves were discounted at times, creating a wider price spread. A moderate to active market with both farmer feeders and buyers in the seats. Very cold wind chills and blowing snow today impacting visibility in some areas. Special yearling sale on Tuesday, December 6 and regular feeder cattle sale on Friday, December 9.
