Compared to last week: best test on yearling steers 900 to 950 lbs mostly steady with other weight classes of steers and heifers not well compared. Many packages and a handful of loads made up today's yearling offering. Moderate to good demand seen for these with best demand for loads. Quality varied greatly and there were many plain to average quality packages. Flesh light to moderate plus with cattle coming off grass and out of yards. Some tag on the cattle at times as lot conditions as well as yards for loading are very muddy. Today was the first test on spring calves, these were met with light to moderate demand. Again, loads were met with the best demand. The majority of the calves had preconditioning and all were off the cow. Flesh varied, from light to moderate plus. A moderate to active market with many buyers and producers attending the sale today. Weather has improved a little and field work has begun again. Yards and lots remain very muddy and the desire to procure bawling calves and put them in these yard conditions is rare. Harvesting and getting feed in the yard is the most pressing concern at this time. Next feeder cattle sale is next Friday, October 25.
