Too few cattle, especially steers, selling last week to compare to today's large offering and develop an accurate trend. Good to very good demand for today's annual Birthday Sale consisting of many packages, loads, and strings of both yearlings and fall calves. Quality on loads and strings mostly attractive, quality on packages was more varied, from plain to attractive. Flesh varied, but mostly moderate to moderate plus flesh with some heavy flesh at times. An active market with many buyers attending the sale today and many times taking multiple loads when available. A few producers attending interested in replacement heifers, but producer attendance was limited as many are in the field. A rally of the CME feeder and live cattle futures toward the end of the week helping the market today and lending some much needed optimism to cattle feeders. No sale next week due to Memorial Day holiday, the next feeder cattle sale will be Friday, May 31.
