Compared to last week: Steers from 550 lbs to 749 lbs were generally 15.00 to 20.00 lower, instances of 25.00 lower, steers from 750 lbs to 849 lbs were steady to 6.00 higher. Heifers were generally steady with to few numbers to make a good comparison. An active market with several consignments offering multiple loads in the same sort, plenty of part loads and packages available to make loads. Cattle were home raised, fully vaccinated, long time weaned and attractive for quality. Good to very good demand for todays offering with most being clean hided and in light to moderate flesh condition. Bitter cold temperatures and recent days with high wind warnings have hampered livestock movement, causing a few cancellations for todays sale. Cattle on feed report came out as expected. One noticeable part of the on feed report showed numbers of heifers placed on January 1, 2026 the same percentage as January 1, 2025. Herd rebuilding begins when? Next feeder sale is Friday, January 30, 2026. Stay warm!
