Compared to last Friday: not enough yearlings to give a price comparison; steer calves from 400 lbs to 449 lbs were 20.00 to 30.00 lower, steers from 450 lbs to 749 lbs were steady to 12.00 lower; heifer calves from 400 lbs to 449 lbs were 6.00 to 8.00 lower, heifers from 450 lbs to 599 lbs were steady to 8.00 higher. Good to very good demand for todays offering of calves. Lessor demand for the old crop yearling cattle when compared to the last few weeks. A large crowd on hand for todays auction with order buyers, farmer feeders and internet buyers trying to buy cattle. A more cautious approach by those buying as the futures market was down again today. Calves were fresh off the cows, fully vaccinated and most were in light flesh condition. The full loads of black hided, fully preconditioned calves garnered the most interest from buyers. A fairly active market throughout the sale. Next feeder sale is scheduled for Friday November 7th, expecting a large run of calves and several consignments of old crop yearlings.
