Compared to two weeks ago: best test on steers 850 lbs to 899 lbs were 3.00 to 5.00 lower on limited numbers, best test on heifers were 850 lbs to 899 lbs were steady to 6.00 higher, heifers from 900 lbs to 945 lbs were 6.00 to 8.00 lower, heifers from 950 lbs to 999 lbs were steady to 4.00 higher on limited numbers. Market felt softer overall today and with the futures market substantially lower this week its understandable. Good to very good demand for todays yearlings that were mostly off pasture and attractive for quality. Flesh conditions ranged from light fleshed to moderate flesh depending on pasture conditions. Today offering consisted of a couple consignments of steers off grass, a long string of spayed heifers off grass and multiple consignments of tested open replacement heifers. An active market with mostly order buyers competing with internet buyers as cattle feeders try to keep pen space filled. Best demand for full loads or multiple loads of the same sort. Silage chopping is in full swing in the area. A chance of rain this weekend, Next feeder sale will be September 26, 2025, the 78th Anniversary Sale. Expecting a large run of yearlings along with some spring and fall calf consignments.
