Compared to last feeder sale two weeks ago: Steers from 550 lbs to 850 lbs were mostly 6.00 to 12.00 higher; heifers from 600 lbs to 649 lbs were steady to 2.00 lower, heifers from 650 lbs to 799 lbs were 3.00 to 5.00 higher with instances of 7.00 higher, no other comparisons available. A large crowd for todays auction with order buyers and famer feeders competing with internet buyers to purchase cattle. A very active market on the light fleshed hay fed cattle and replacement heifers with an active market on the heavier feeding cattle. Home raised replacement heifers saw lots of buyer interest. Todays sale consisted of multiple consignments of weaned or unweaned fall calves and mostly home raised, backgrounded feeder cattle and replacement heifers. Several consignments of reputation feeder cattle and replacement heifers offered in multiple loads were met with very good demand. Best demand continues to be for the light fleshed cattle suitable for summer grazing. More consignments of part loads and packages this week when compared to two weeks ago, flesh condition ranged from light fleshed hay fed cattle to moderate plus background cattle. Most of the area saw some moderate showers this past week with hopes of more to come. Next feeder sale is Friday, May 9, 2025.
