Compared to last week: steers from 500 lbs to 599 lbs were steady to 2.00 higher, steers from 600 lbs to 649 lbs were 6.00 to 8.00 lower, steers from 650 lbs to 800 lbs were 3.00 to 6.00 higher; heifers sold steady to higher on limited comparisons. A few packages of yearlings sold on an active market. Many attractive, long time weaned and fully pre-conditioned calves sold on a very active market. Several consignments from reputation producers offered buyers multiple loads on one owner cattle. Flesh conditions ranged from light fleshed hay fed cattle to moderate plus condition coming out of grow yards. Good to very good demand for todays large offering of feeder cattle and replacement heifers. Best demand for the light fleshed black hided cattle suitable for summer grazing. Several sets of reputation replacement heifers were well received as multiple buyers were competing for ownership. Lots of buying power in the seats as farmer feeders and order buyers competed with internet buyers to purchase cattle. Cold temperatures and strong winds forecasted for the area for the next several day. Next feeder sale is scheduled for Friday, January 24, 2025.
