Compared to two weeks ago, best test on steers 1,000 lbs to 1,049 lbs were steady, best test on heifers 850 lbs to 949 lbs were steady to 3.00 higher, other weight classes were to lightly tested to make a market comparison. Several consignments offered buyers the chance to purchase multiple loads of one owner cattle, up to eleven loads in one sort. Loads and packages of tested open heifers were met with good demand. An active market with mostly order buyers in the seats competing with internet buyers. Cattle coming off grass were more in demand then the cattle coming out of grow yards. Flesh ranged from light fleshed fall calves that were coming off grass to moderate fleshed yearlings coming from a grow yard. Much of the area has received some rain in the past two weeks, but warmer and drier conditions are forecasted for the next week. Cash fed cattle market continues its downward slide lending concern to buyers trying to procure feeder cattle. Next feeder sale is scheduled for Friday, September 13, 2024.
