Compared to last week: Steers from 550 lbs to 599 lbs were steady to 2.00 higher, steers from 600 lbs to 699 lbs were 6.00 to 10.00 higher, steers from 750 lbs to 849 lbs were steady to 4.00 higher; heifers from 550 lbs to 599 lbs were 6.00 to 8.00 higher, heifers from 600 lbs to 649 lbs were 3.00 to 4.00 lower, heifers from 650 lbs to 699 lbs were 10.00 to 12.00 higher, heifers from 700 lbs to 749 lbs were 3.00 to 4.00 higher, other weight classes not comparable. A fairly active market for todays large offering of attractive feeder cattle and replacement heifers. Most were home raised, long time weaned and fully preconditioned. Best demand for black hided, hay fed cattle that had been running out and were light fleshed. Flesh condition ranged from light fleshed to moderate plus cattle coming out of grow yards. Lots of buyers in the seats competing with internet buyers for todays auction. Some attractive heifers went back to the country as replacement prospects while others were headed for a finishing yard. Several long strings in todays offering gave buyers the opportunity to put multiple loads of one owner cattle together, up to four loads per consignment. Most cattle were carrying some tag as muddy pen conditions are quite common. Several weather - road - related cancellations for todays sale. Expecting a large run of high quality cattle for the next auction scheduled for Friday, February 23, 2024.
