Compared to last sale three weeks ago: Feeder steers weighing from 800 lbs to 950 lbs were steady to 4.00 lower, heifers from 650 lbs to 950 lbs were steady to 5.00 higher. Several strings of yearlings offering buyers the chance to put multiple loads of one owner cattle together. Most of the yearlings were off short, dry grass pastures as drought conditions continue in the area. A few scattered showers in the area last night and this morning offered a little relief for producers. A fairly active market as buyers were eager to purchase these light fleshed feeder cattle. Several consignments of spring calves in todays offering with the steer and heifer calves being sold together as one lot. Calves selling by the head ranged from: 186 lbs brought $370 per head, 272 lbs brought $600 per head, 313 lbs for $650 per head, 393 lbs brought $770 per head. Most of the calves had their preconditioning shots and were right off the cow. There were considerable interest and very good demand for these spring born calves. Next feeder sale will be Friday, August 27th. Stay safe.
