Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers steady to 3.00 higher, except 700-750 lbs to 5.00 higher. Feeder heifers steady to 2.00 higher, except 650-700 lbs and 750-800 lbs 6.00 to 8.00 higher. Good to very good demand for this very large offering of high quality steers and heifers. The devastating drought is continuing to push cattle off grass early as many consignments were developed for grass but were only turned out for a short time or not at all. The flesh condition was extremely attractive on these cattle and buyers were very active. There were also long strings of feed yard backgrounded steers and heifers, one consignment of 1,100 steers and heifers and another one of 1,000 steers. These cattle were very eye appealing, and the flesh was attractive, and they were offered in large multiple load lots. With cash fed cattle finally breaking out of the 120.00 rut it’s been stuck in, and the Live Cattle futures gaining some steam, there was some optimism present in the auction. Next feeder cattle auction will be Friday July 9th, 2021.
