Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last week steers fro 600 lbs to 849 lbs were mostly 4.00 to 6.00 lower with the feeder heifers weighing from 550 lbs to 699 lbs were generally 4.00 to 8.00 lower. Very good demand with lots of buyers in the seats made for a very active market. Overall quality in today's sale was not as good as last weeks sale. Flesh conditions ranged from light fleshed hay fed calves to moderate, plus back grounded calves that had a tendency to carry some tag. Moderating temperatures in the area are creating some sloppy pen conditions. Best demand for the hay fed calves suitable for summer grazing programs. Next feeder sale will be Friday, February 28th, expecting a large run of high quality cattle.
