Compared to two weeks ago: Feeder steers under 850 lb unevenly steady, except weights over 850 lbs were clearly 1.00 to 3.00 higher with a few instances to 5.00 higher on 950 lbs steers. Feeder heifers under 600 lbs steady to 3.00 higher, 600- 850 lbs steady to 4.00 lower, over 850 lbs sold with a firm to higher undertone. Good demand for this very large offering of high quality, light to moderate fleshed fall calves and yearlings. Flesh condition was very attractive overall as so many cattle were in that light flesh that every cattle feeder wants to buy. The selection was incredible as there were so many full loads and multiple load lots offered, there were many consignments ranging in size from 500-1,400 head. Cattle feeders could make full feedyard pens of cattle from a single source if they so desired. As summer is upon us and the auction markets move to their summer sale schedules buyers were at the sale today and ready to purchase cattle when they are available. The market was active in spite of another day of losses in the cattle futures complex. Next feeder cattle sale will be Friday July 12, 2019.
