Compared to two weeks ago: Much lighter receipts this week, due to very muddy road conditions created by the heavy rains received across the trade area this week. The best comparison on steers were those 750-800 lbs which were 4.00 to 5.00 lower. Heifers sold with steady to lower undertones. Several very large strings of steers and heifers, many offered in full loads and multiple load lots. Flesh condition was light enough for grass on many consignments. Cattle hides were a little dirty at times as it is just about impossible to keep one clean with the recurring rains this spring. The market was active on cattle light enough to go to grass with, much more moderate for cattle only suitable for feeding. Cattle feeders remain defensive as the cash fed cattle market continues to struggle. Next sale will be Saturday June 1, 2019 expecting 2,500-3,000 feeder cattle starting at 11:00 am central time. This is a special sale as many producers have been unable to ship cattle to town due to the soft, muddy roads.
