This was the first special wednesday sale of the season, so no comparisons available. Moderate to good demand for todays offering of calves. Most calves were fully preconditioned and fresh off the cow. Flesh condition ranged from light fleshed to a few in moderate fleshed condition. Market was active to very active on the full loads, less active on the part loads and packages or if the calves were not fully vaccinated. There are instances where lack of fall shots will cost the producer $20 per hundred weight. Vaccinate the calves before you send them to town. Most of the western part of the state received some much needed moisture, causing several weather related cancellations today. Next feeder sale will be friday october 15th, expecting a large run of high quality calves and yearlings. Be safe, eat beef so you stay healthy.
