Compared to last week: Feeder steers 5.00 to 20.00 lower, except 500-550 lbs unevenly steady. Feeder heifers unevenly steady. Good demand for this lighter offering of home raised steers and heifers. The market was not as active for those cattle bound for finishing yards in cattle feeding country, a severe winter storm is moving across the country with artic temps making it difficult for cattle feeders to handle incoming cattle, there was pressure on the market because of this. Those lighter steers and heifers to make yearlings out of, and those replacement quality heifers sold on a very active market however. Many long strings of really high quality feeder cattle, including full loads and multiple load lots. Flesh condition light to moderate plus, overall this week. Cattle feeders were disappointed with cash sales and the direction of the futures contracts this week, also causing them to slow down in their pursuit of feeder cattle. Next sale will be Jan. 29, 2026.
