Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last week: Feeder steers steady to 5.00 higher, heifers mostly steady. Very good demand for this lighter offering of feeder cattle. Receipts were reduced this week due to the brutal winter weather that struck the nation starting last Saturday and kept it's grip all week with temps below zero, along with high winds. The market was very active on those light weight, hay fed cattle as they are very green due to the extreme cold weather. The market was active on the heavier, weaned cattle as the cattle futures contracts continues to make gains.
