Compared to last week the market had higher undertones in both the steer and heifer prices this week.Today's sale consisted of a number of drafts of yearling heifers and steers. Many nice strings of spring calves in today's offering. Compared to last week feeder steers 450 to 500 lbs. were 18.00 higher : 500 to 600 lbs. were steady to 1.00 lower and 600 to 650 lbs. were 9.00 higher. Feeder heifers not well tested for a comparison but most weights were higher this week. Spring calves with two rounds of shots and those of high quality brought a premium from buyers today. Demand by buyers was good today and new buyers in attendance this week. Harvest is about done in the state and farmer buyers should be showing up to fill their lots for the fall and winter. Expect a big run of spring calves next week.
