The Public Auction Yards held their Annual Blue Ribbon Sale over the last two days. Buyers filled the stands both days from all over Montana and neighboring states. Buyers bid both ringside as well as on the internet throughout the two day sale. Demand was mostly moderate, with moderate to good demand seen at times. Offerings were heavy. Quality was mostly average to very attractive. Bred heifers sold on mostly good demand this year. A.I.ed heifers and heifers which were represented to calve in tight windows sold with the best demand. Many heifers were in light flesh this year due to the drought. Demand for April and May calving cows was mostly good to very good this year. These offerings often out sold March calving cows as many ranchers moved back calving dates due to difficult winters and heavy death losses. Market activity was mostly active throughout the two day sale.
